In Illustrator, ever tried erasing parts of objects with brushes applied or vector effects and been surprised by the results (as in the above example)? The answer is that Illustrator now sees new objects to apply the effects to – so you’ve got to expand the object(s) beforehand by choosing Object > Expand Appearance.
